Local IQ has an article about a couple of local CSAs, which build bridges between farmers and consumers.

Consumers essentially subscribe to community-supported agriculture organizations for a weekly fee and get a share of the harvest each week of the season from local farmers.

Waiver extended for impact fees

Albuquerque City Council decided Aug. 16 to extend the waiver of impact fees for projects that meet certain environmental standards.

The six-month extension also applies to the reduction of other impact fees.

Pueblo plans solar plant

CNM Scholarships

New scholarships at Central New Mexico Community College will “for graduating and pursuing careers in emerging industries.”

Recipients can earn up to $500. According to CNM’s news release the first 10 students received their award April 20. PNM seeded the fund with an endowment of $100,000.

Greenhouse gas case suspended

From the Albuquerque Journal:

A judge has ordered a state agency to stop consideration of a petition to limit emission of greenhouse gases in New Mexico.

New Energy Economy had petitioned the Environmental Improvement Board. The proposal is opposed in a lawsuit by “Four state lawmakers and nine utility, business and industry groups, including Public Service Company of New Mexico.”
